The Secret to Manifestation

"As a man who has devoted his whole life to the most clearheaded science, to the study of matter, I can tell you as a result of my research about the atoms this much: There is no matter as such! All matter originates and exists only by virtue of a force which brings the particles of an atom to vibration and holds this most minute solar system of the atom together. . . . We must assume behind this force the existence of a conscious and intelligent Mind. This Mind is the matrix of all matter."

Max Planck, Originator of Quantum Theory, Nobel Prize Winner

For many years I practiced visualization, focusing on every aspect of what I wanted, leaving no detail aside. I would sit for up to an hour each morning, taking the time to painstakingly walk through my ideal day, seeing what it was I wanted to manifest in my world.

And yet I received no results.

I tried focusing on the feelings I got while visualizing the outcomes I wanted, yet I got no closer to the big house, the pile of money, or the amazing vacations I saw in my dreams.

All that changed when I listened to "The Secrets to Manifesting Your Destiny" by Dr. Wayne W. Dyer.

In his course, Dr. Dyer speaks on how the ego approaches desire from an attitude of, "I have to have it now and I have to have it this way, and if I don't get it pretty soon then I'm going to ... <all the bad things that will happen>."

It was then I realized why my visualization didn't work - I was coming at it from a place of ego rather than Spirit.

Dr. Dyer teaches that in order to manifest we must focus on the feelings we get from the essence of what it is we want rather than the specific manifestation of it.

God, Universal Intelligence, Spirit, Higher Power, The Quantum Field - whatever you want to call it, this energy that underlies all of life does not work in specifics; if it did it would not be universal. And it is universal; it is that which is in all things including you and me.

How do we determine the essence of what it is we want? Simple:

First, take a piece of paper or create a new spreadsheet on your computer.

Next, create a table with two columns. At the top of the first column write, "What I Want (Specifics)"; at the top of the second column, write, "What / How I Feel".

In the first column write down a list of what it is you want in one or more of these seven areas of your life:

  1. Work and career
  2. Finances
  3. Recreation and free time
  4. Health and fitness
  5. Relationships
  6. Personal goals
  7. Contribution to the larger community

When you are done with that, for each item on your list:

  1. Read what you've written.
  2. Close your eyes and visualize, hear or feel yourself having it.
  3. Pay attention to the emotions that come up as you play out the situation in your head.
  4. Write down the emotions you've just experienced.

Here is a (short) list of emotions that may help:

  • Abundant
  • Admiration
  • Adoration
  • Aesthetic Appreciation
  • Amusement
  • Appreciation
  • Awe
  • Calmness
  • Curiosity
  • Empathetic pain
  • Entrancement
  • Excitement
  • Friendship
  • Gratitude
  • Interest
  • Joy
  • Kindness
  • Love
  • Nostalgia
  • Romance
  • Satisfaction
  • Sexual desire
  • Surprise
  • Sympathy
  • Triumph
  • Trust

Here are a few examples from my life:

What I Want (Specifics) What / How I Fee
A job or business that provides more than enough money to support my family and provide opportunities for my children. Secure
Experience and explore new places. Excitement
Stay in beautiful houses and hotels. Aesthetic Appreciation

Repeat emotions as much as needed; the ones that show up multiple times are the gifts you're deeply looking for - this is a good sign!

It is these emotions that, when focused upon with open heart during consistent meditation and prayer, will manifest in our lives, not the specific expression our egos demand.

Our job is to focus on the essence of what we want in our lives, let go of the specific outcomes we believe should bring them, and say "yes" when they show up.

An important note here is to keep all of this private - this is something between you and God. There is no need to share your heart's desires with someone else when you are manifesting them. If you operate from a base of utter knowing, knowing that what you desire - security, love, excitement, peace - are coming your way if they aren't with you already, and look for the clues of their arrival, that's all you need to do.

Life should be easy, and it is.
